Elements are set to display:none when hiding, keeping them in the DOM.

• Template elements might be visible if not explicitly hidden by the user.
• Any update to the list (even if it's to a single item) triggers a whole re-render that destroys it and creates it again, causing a huge impact on performance.
• Clones that must be hidden are kept in the DOM with display:none, causing CSS selectors like nth:child() to not work properly when filtering out items.

Nested lists are managed in conjunction. When applying an update to one nested item, it affects all nested items from all parents.
